BECOME A MEMBER

Attributes for members to join:

Members of S.E.A.L Robotics are typically high school students from 13-18, but there is no true age limit, (we just require our members too)

- listen
- learn
- have initiative
- have fun

There is no requirement for members to have any existing knowledge in any of the fields, whether it be electronics, programming, building etc. because all of the things will be learned. Because some of the tools we work with can be dangerous, we always give training on any tools that will be used and always have an adult mentor with the members as they are using the tools. This teaches important life skills but also responsibility. The members of the team are in charge of the first designs on paper, all the way to the finished product. Although the members are in charge of the building process, adult mentors are there every step to teach and give guidance. This allows for members to take charge and be leaders in their field, but if they get stuck along the way mentors are always there to help.

Some notes from the members.

Brock Longley- "Being part of robotics has truly helped me to become a better person. Before I joined at the age of 13, I was quite shy and didn't like to do group activities. When I started robotics I got involved and really enjoyed doing the mechanical work. I became the lead engineer allowing me to learn a lot about leadership and team building. since then, I Co-founded two robotics teams. The first one in its first year competed in the international competition in California. The second being this team S.E.A.L Robotics which is breaking new ground using advanced industrial technology. Overall this has been a great experience that has helped me to accomplish a lot.

Austin Ramey- Will be added soon."

Oliver- "Being part of this team has taught me loads about engineering and programming, as well as coordinating and leading skills. The ability to work with other people towards a common goal is extremely helpful and is something I developed further on the team. I find myself learning new things every meeting, and being taught new skills as well."
